Libraries/LRCs

Inspiring Libraries and Learning Resource Centers

At Pinnacle our designs consider different abilities and learning styles, including ALN/SEN requirements, ensuring that every learner has a comfortable, engaging space to focus, explore, and connect. We take into account lighting, zoning, and circulation to create environments that feel calm, intuitive, and inspiring — whether the space is primarily focused on books, digital resources, or both.

Zoning for Diverse Learning Styles

Every library and LRC is unique, with its own balance of individual, group, and teaching zones.

We create layouts that carefully consider circulation, zoning, and flexibility, allowing the space to be used for multiple purposes — from guided teaching sessions to independent study and collaborative work.

By incorporating soft seating, traditional tables and chairs, and modular furniture, we enable students to choose how and where they learn best. This supports not only academic performance but also independence, inclusion, and engagement.

Balancing Physical & Digital Resources

Today’s libraries are a blend of physical and digital learning. Pinnacle’s designs reflect this shift, ensuring the right balance of shelving, digital access points, and multimedia stations.

Where printed collections remain a priority, we plan shelving layouts that hold the right number of books while maintaining clear sightlines and circulation routes.Every detail is thoughtfully considered: how many books to store, the number of shelves required, and how to balance quiet reading areas with teaching and study zones.

Where digital learning is more prominent, we integrate charging points, device storage, and AV facilities, ensuring the space remains future-proof and adaptable as technology evolves.

Lighting & Acoustics for Comfort and Focus

The right lighting and acoustics transform how a space feels and functions.

We design lighting schemes that support zoned learning — with bright, focused task lighting for study areas and softer, warmer tones for reading zones and relaxation spaces.

Acoustic performance is equally important. We use creative solutions such as acoustic panels, furniture placement, and biophilic elements like planting to minimise distractions and create a calm, comfortable environment that supports concentration and wellbeing.
