Bond BryanProject Overview
Treetops Free School, based in Grays, Essex, is the Department for Education’s (DfE) first completed school on the new net zero carbon pathfinder guidance scheme. This summer, it opened its doors to welcome 140 new special education needs students between the ages of 5 and 19.
What We Did
Pinnacle worked with Bond Bryan and developed the adopted designs to meet the varying needs of both pupils and teacher. During the build process, Treetops made some changes to classroom requirements to complement their curriculum. Through a series of creative workshops, we collaborated with them to ensure the requirements of both the students and the teaching team were met. Adaptability was a key consideration in this project with our workshops empowering teachers to adapt their learning spaces, so they are easily reconfigurable, thereby future proofing the spaces for years to come.
The internal spaces have a range of Therapy and Specialist Rooms including a sensory room – with light and sound features to assist in stimulation, Soft Play Room for increasing mobility and strengthening physical ability with its own climbing wall. The textile room with DDA compliant height adjustable tables allows students to explore fabrics, fashion and sewing while a colourful and robust climbing frame in the sports hall is a focal point for indoor P.E.
We were honoured to be part of this fantastic project and contribute to Treetop’s passion in providing a broad and balanced curriculum, differentiated to meet individual needs
