Roedean School Library Refurbishment

Pinnacle collaborated with Miller Bourne Architects to understand Roedean School’s needs and preferences, creating a dynamic and engaging learning environment that maximised the space and fostered a welcoming, aesthetically appealing atmosphere for the students.

The project included:
- Bespoke Bookshelves: Curved double-sided bookshelves, custom bookshelves on castors, fixed and mobile units, and bespoke boxing with upholstered cushions.
- Staircase Shelving: Bespoke single bookshelves along both sides of the staircase leading to the stage, and “under-the-stairs” shelving for efficient use of space.
- Seating Options: A variety of seating including small easy chairs with and without a rocking base, Point cylinder seating and laminate chairs with wooden bases.
- Workspaces: Designed for group and individual study, including rectangular, circular, and oval laminated-top tables, pillar-based tables, tall coffee tables, and bench-height desks placed by the window.

The chosen colour scheme consisted of white bookcases, tables and chairs, complemented by vibrant accents in pink, grey, and light blue furniture, including chairs and pillar cylinder seating. Grey and pink cushions were also added to create a minimalist yet vibrant look.

Pinnacle were pleased with the outcome, and felt that the objective of creating a modern, functional library was achieved. The bespoke furniture solutions and thoughtful design choices have transformed the library into a dynamic space that will inspire the academic journey of every student.
