Project Overview

The school asked Pinnacle to give their Sixth Form area a complete refresh as space previously felt empty and uninspiring.

The Brief

Latymer Upper School is London’s leading fully co-educational school for 11 to 18 year-olds. Latymer proclaims not to be a ‘one size fits all’ school and we ensured that this was the case with our design for their Sixth Form.

The school wanted to give their Sixth Form area a complete refresh as space previously felt empty and uninspiring. The school also wanted to bring the area in line with their current design and to play homage to their vision, creating an ambitious and grounded school, as well as to accommodate their growing sixth form.

What We Did

Pinnacle wanted to make the sixth form area a multi-use space. To accommodate this, structural walls were removed across the room to create more of an open plan space. Within the design, sections for eating, socialising and storage, such as the locker walls, were added to the room. Suspended ceilings were fitted across the room and within that, acoustic panels went in to reduce background noise and echo when the room is use.

Across the design there are several nods to nature, such as the use of exposed looking wood and the frequent use of the colour green, to evoke the grounded vision of the school.
