Pinnacle was chosen by Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls to fit out their newly built STEM block, main science building and associated prep rooms.
The Brief
Haberdashers’ Aske’s School for Girls, founded in 1875, is a leading independent day school located in Elstree, Hertfordshire. The School initially wanted to fit-out their new build STEM block with four labs and associated prep rooms to allow the science disciplines to take place whilst their floor of rooms was refurbished in the main science building. Once the STEM building was completed, the client decided to move all science teaching into a temporary building and refurbish the science building in one period.
We were required to fit-out their 8 laboratories, 2 prep rooms and 1 office temporary science block for use whilst the refurbishment took place in the main science building. Pinnacle were invited to tender for this scheme which had been developed with IID Architects along with a different laboratory manufacturer. After being successfully shortlisted we presented directly to the construction, design, and client team after which we were appointed.
What We Did
We supplied and installed fitted and freestanding furniture to all three buildings. Each science discipline had different requirements, physics required more freestanding tables to offer flexibility for room use, biology wanted glass fronted wall units to display specimens and chemistry needed extensive Gratnell trays to store equipment. The temporary science furniture and building were relocated from Tonbridge School where they had been used during their science building refurbishment.
The main science building underwent a full refurbishment to which we have fitted furniture, laboratory furniture and equipment, prep rooms, science stores and offices. The STEM building was a new build in which we have fitted furniture to laboratories, prep rooms, science stores and offices. Science Capacity units were supplied in all our standard laboratory fittings as they are specifically designed for education and have several uniquely designed features to ensure maximum lifespan and practicality.
