3Project Overview
AISL's vision is to deliver a balanced and rigorous American international education, giving students the tools, confidence and motivation to excel and keep learning throughout their lives.
AISL appointed Pinnacle to design, supply and install a complete FF&E package across the school's library, breakout areas and surrounding lobby spaces, creating a modern environment for independent study, collaboration and social interaction.
The Brief
AISL’s requirements centred around three key objectives:
A flexible learning environment
Beyond the fixed elements including breakout areas, storage, doors, double-volume spaces and staircases, the library was a blank canvas. The design needed to balance formal and informal furniture solutions, supporting different learning styles while creating clear zones for quiet study, collaboration and group work.
A space that reflects AISL’s identity
The design needed to incorporate AISL’s branding colours and create an environment that feels connected to the wider school.
A versatile and future-ready space
Furniture needed to be mobile, stackable and easy to reconfigure, allowing the library to adapt for exhibitions, presentations and community activities. The brief also required acoustic treatment, integrated power access throughout, and a comfortable, accessible environment without compromising safety.
What We Did
Pinnacle designed, procured, shipped and installed the full furniture package for the library, breakout room and lobby. The design brought together structured study zones with relaxed social spaces, creating a contemporary learning hub that felt dynamic and adaptable.
Library Space
The library which was on two floors was designed around flexibility, movement and choice, with a wide range of furniture solutions that support different ways of learning.
Mobile high tables and stools created standing-height areas for collaboration, while large worktables paired with light grey cantilever chairs provided a more traditional study setting.
For quieter work and reading, highback two-seater sofas with integrated tables provided comfortable spaces for discussion, while individual highback chairs with laptop tables and hexagonally arranged screens and seating supported focused independent study.
A curved seating area wrapped around central tables in an S formation, combining stools and beanbags which created a relaxed social zone. Two Sketch Cubes were also introduced as flexible seating solutions, made up of individual components that can be easily moved and reconfigured. Positioned around planting, they help soften the space and bring a more natural feel.
Storage combines large white bookcases with double-sided mobile shelving, balancing fixed storage with flexible use. Outside the library, three swing chairs provide an informal pause point for reading, socialising or independent work.
Breakout Area
The breakout room was designed to support small-group activity and focused discussion. A standout feature is a secret door concealed within the fixed book shelving. It blends seamlessly into the wall until opened, adding a sense of discovery to the space.
The room is furnished with a circular central table with a whiteboard top along with twelve light grey Cantilever chairs with orange seating.
Lobby and Social Spaces
The lobby was furnished as a welcoming arrival point, with seating around the central pillar in a cubed formation. This is complemented by four blue highback lounge chairs and a circular white table.
The Result
AISL’s new library and learning spaces reflect a modern approach to international education environments.
The completed space gives students flexible areas for independent study, collaboration and social interaction, supported by furniture that adapts to different activities throughout the day.
The result is a dynamic, future-focused learning environment that reflects AISL’s commitment to confidence, creativity and lifelong learning.
