Project Overview

Abingdon School appointed Pinnacle as FFE Consultant to design and complete the fit-out for their new building, Faringdon Lodge.

The Brief

Abingdon School is a prestigious independent day and boarding school for boys. Faringdon Lodge is a new 3-storey building which is home to the Computer Science and Economics Departments. The building also includes the Faringdon Lodge reception and the School Uniform shop.

Pinnacle were appointed as FFE consultant for Stage 3 of the project to understand the set-up of lessons and design and install suitable furniture which will enable effective teaching. There were many areas to consider in the project such as Classrooms, Breakout Spaces, Offices, and a Reception. Following the successful development of Beech Court and the Common Room, we understood what the School wanted to achieve from the space.

What We Did

The entrance, which is the entry point for all day students had a stunning curved reception desk with solid surface worktop and faceted timber façade. The shared Computer Science and Economic classrooms needed to be suitable for delivering both subjects. For Computer Science, each desk position needed to access 3 pin power, USB, USBC and 2HDMI connections. Economics required bespoke whiteboards at the front of the classroom. Myriad benching was selected with foldable power modules, enabling the students to either collaborate on the screen, access networks, or work independently delivering the joint functionality.

The House areas each consist of a common room, quiet study area, office and Sixth form space. The social area housed durable SGL lockers in the House colours, bespoke bag storage and fitted and loose soft seating. We also supplied a variety of soft seating options, coffee tables, classroom TeacherWall and colourful spin stools to the Economics breakout space on the upper floors.
